The Opportunity: VP of Sales and Business Development

SmashFly is seeking a dynamic sales team leader with proven selling experience to be our new head of sales.

Reporting to SmashFly’s CEO and serving as a key member of the SmashFly Executive Team, the VP Sales and Business Development will play a critical role in helping our company achieve the next level of success – executing an aggressive growth strategy that increases SmashFly’s market share and ensures a long term competitive edge. This person will drive the company’s customer acquisition and revenue goals through direct sales, business development and the expansion and leadership of a dynamic success-driven sales team. This person will be responsible for the direction and management of all sales operations including attainment of quarterly and annual sales goals, pricing, compensation and sales strategies from a global perspective.

Key Responsibilities

You will drive increased revenue through direct sales, business development, and sales leadership by developing and implementing sales strategies and processes to support explosive and scalable growth. In regards to direct selling, you’ll build rapport, book appointments, promote our unique solution and implement a disciplined sales process to drive transactions. You will leverage your technical acumen and multi-channel presentation skills to present product demonstrations both in person and via the web and you’ll drive sales from initial contact to close.
  • Oversee overall strategy, implementation, and sales team execution for all new customer acquisition
  • Identify new sales verticals, channel and partnership opportunities
  • Set and execute sales standards and process regarding quota, lead gen, demo approach, etc.
  • Refine pricing for SmashFly‘s product offerings
  • Be a key contributor of the SmashFly Executive Team — leading by example and promoting the company’s culture and spirit
  • Develop plans and strategies to achieve the company’s sales goals
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting
  • Define and establish sales compensation plans and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their targets
  • Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives
  • Ensure infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function are followed
  • Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership
  • Work closely with the marketing function to establish successful lead generation programs
  • Develop and manage relationships with key customers and participate in closing strategic opportunities

Ideal Candidate Characteristics

You have the command and presence to engage and compel the business leaders and executives of current and prospective clients. Ideally, you have sold or managed sales for an international solution; if not, you have the skills and ambition necessary to manage global expansion and sales efforts, operating on the global stage.

You have the charisma to get people to follow you, but the organizational skills to keep them pulling together towards the right goals. You’ve demonstrated industry leadership during your career.

  • Actively seeking the challenges and rewards of a fast-paced startup environment. You thrive in early stage companies with strong engineering driven cultures
  • 7+ years or proven, successful full cycle sales experience in a SaaS, B2B/solution sales environment
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales quota
  • Positive attitude, high motivation level and a passion for building a business
  • Ability to articulate and present a compelling value proposition via customer meetings, telephone, web
  • Experience developing a territory: identifying and qualifying opportunities; pursuing conversion of qualified leads to customers with monthly recurring revenue
  • Technical acumen blended with ability to communicate business value
  • Background selling CRM Talent Management Systems, Recruiting solutions, HRIS, or CRM is a plus
  • Demonstrated collaboration and negotiation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • International and Sales Leadership experience and/or the skills and ambition necessary to chart these responsibilities
